Klamath County Criminal Records

The Oregon State Police's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division is the state's central repository for criminal records. The Division provides Klamath County criminal records by mail to requesters. Record subjects may complete a Copy of Own Record / Clearance Letter Request Form, while individuals requesting the criminal records of others should complete a Request for Oregon Criminal History Information on Another Individual (Open Record) Form. Copies of criminal records cost $33 and are payable by check or money order.

The Division also requires subjects of records to provide their fingerprints on the appropriate fingerprint card (FD258). They can visit the Klamath County Sheriff's Office for fingerprinting services on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Customers should have a valid picture I.D. and be willing to pay $15 in cash, by money order, or by check. Get Klamath County Civil Court Records

The Klamath County Circuit Court has an Online Records Search portal and a Court Records Request Form that can be used to view or copy civil court records electronically. To access the online portal, users can follow the following steps:

  • Click the Smart Search portlet icon on the portal page
  • In the search field, enter a court record number or a party name
  • Click the "Advanced Filtering Options" link to streamline the search. For example:

Klamath County Marriage Records

The Klamath County Clerk handles marriage record requests in the Office during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The Clerk charges $7.75 for a certified copy of the Klamath County marriage certificate. All fees should be paid in advance using cash or debit and credit cards. Klamath County Divorce Records

Certified copies of divorce records are not included in Klamath County public records. Therefore, they are not available on the Circuit Court's Online Records Search portal. Individuals can only find nonconfidential divorce information on the portal. To use the portal, know the case party's name or case number, and click the "Advanced Filtering Options" link to limit the search.

Eligible individuals can obtain certified copies of divorce records online or in person from the Klamath County Circuit Court. Fill out the Court Records Request Form online or visit the Office from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In-person customers can use the kiosk computers in the courthouse lobby to find new divorce records while older records should be obtained from the record staff. The requester would be asked to pay 25 cents per page for divorce records and certified copies cost $5 plus per page copy charge. The court can take about 5 business days to respond to divorce records and it can take about 10 business days for the record to be ready.

Klamath Birth and Death Records

Klamath County vital records are confidential for a while. For example, death records are restricted for 50 years after the death date, while Klamath County birth records are restricted for 100 years after the birth date. Only the following persons are eligible to order confidential birth and death records:

  • Next of kin (for death certificate)
  • Current spouse (for death certificates)
  • Parents, step-parents, grandparents, and legal guardian
  • Registered domestic partners, siblings, and children,
  • Legal representatives and government agencies
  • Funeral home representative (for death certificate)
  • Non-eligible person with a notarized permission note from an eligible person
  • A person or agency who demonstrates a personal or property right reason for order (for death certificate)

Individuals can order birth or death records from the Klamath County Public Health. The Office only issues certified copies of birth and death records within six (6) months of the event. Customers should present a photo I.D. to obtain copies of vital records and complete the Birth Record Order Form (English or Spanish) or Death Record Order Form (English or Spanish). Copies of birth or death certificates cost $25 for a single copy and $25 for each extra copy ordered at the same time. This fee can be paid by cash, checks, and Visa or MasterCard.

Birth and death certificates for adults and babies older than six (6) months can be obtained from the Oregon Vital Records Office. Requests can be submitted through the following methods:

  • Online and by phone: Customers can order birth or death records by phone at (888) 896-4988 or online through an approved third-party vendor. The vendor charges a $43.25 nonrefundable fee for the first copy of the certificate and $25 for each additional copy. Payments can be made by credit or debit cards. The processing time is three business days.
  • By Mail in/drop off: Customers requesting death certificates should submit a completed Oregon Death Record Order Form (English or Spanish) to the Vital Records Office. Those requesting birth records should submit a completed Oregon Birth Record Order Form (English or Spanish) or Long Birth Order Form (English or Spanish). The Office charges $25 for the search fee, first certificate, and $25 for each additional copy. Individuals ordering a full-image birth certificate should be ready to pay $5 per certificate. Payments of fees should be in the form of a money order or check. The processing time takes about 5 to 7 weeks. The mail package should include the appropriate form, a copy of a valid I.D., and the appropriate fee.   • In-person: Individuals are required to schedule an appointment to order birth or death certificates in person at the Vital Records Office. Appointments can only be scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 30 minutes. This service costs $28 and is payable by cash, credit card, money order, or debit card. Klamath County Probate Court Records

The Klamath County Circuit Court decides on all probate cases and makes records of such cases available to the public upon request.
